A deposit slip template organizes the details of money being deposited into a bank account. It can help prepare records, but acceptance depends on the bank’s requirements.
Look for account identification, date, depositor details, cash and cheque breakdowns, and a total. Confirm whether the bank requires its own deposit form.

How to use the deposit slip template
Step 1. Check the recipient account details against a trusted record. Match confirmed deposits to checkbook registers.
Step 2. List cash and cheques separately and total the deposit. Enter the corresponding records in bookkeeping templates.
Step 3. Retain the bank’s confirmation and reconcile it with your own register.
List each cheque with enough reference information to distinguish it from other deposits, following the bank’s requirements. Keep cash denominations separate if the format calls for them. Recheck the total before presenting the deposit, especially when several instruments are included.
After processing, retain the bank’s stamped or electronic confirmation alongside your internal record. A prepared slip can be changed or rejected before acceptance, so it should not be treated as a completed transaction until the bank’s confirmation supports it.
Example and checks
Cash of 150 plus two cheques of 200 and 75 gives a deposit total of 425. Keep the cheque references available for checking.
Do not assume a home-printed slip will be accepted. Avoid exposing full account details when sharing a sample. Classify business transactions using general ledgers.
